The First Burn Matters

Did you know that wax has a memory?
The very first time you light a candle, the melt pool sets a blueprint for each burn that follows. If you blow it out before the wax has melted to the full edge of the jar, it will tunnel down the centre on subsequent burns, following that first narrow pool every time - leaving you with wax all around the edges of your jar.
The rule is simple: for the first burn, let it continue until the melt pool reaches the glass. For a Denmead candle, that's usually 2-3 hours.
After that, the candle will behave beautifully every time - melting edge to edge, and burning all the way down.
It sounds like a small thing. But it's the difference between a candle that performs and one that doesn't. And with a natural essential oil candle, the reward for doing it right is a candle that lasts and uses every drop of wax.
